Rocky Point Teachers Association

The Rocky Point Teachers Association represents the over 250 members of the teaching and professional personal who work for the Rocky Point School District. 

RPTA members belong to the statewide New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).  NYSUT represents more than 480,000 members throughout New York State.

NYSUT is affliated at the national level with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which has more than one million members.

RPTA and NYSUT are also affliated with the AFL-CIO, a federation of labor organizations.

Misson Statement
The purpose of the Rocky Point Teachers Association is:

1. To work for the welfare of school children, advancement of education and the improvement of instructional opportunities for all.

2. To advance the standards of the teaching profession through the promotion of ethical practices, personnel policies and standards of preparation and participation which are the mark of a truly professional organization.

3. To promote the welfare of its members and secure the conditions necessary for the greatest efficiency of teachers and schools.

4. To give a single voice for the common interests of the members of the Association before the Board of Education and other legal authorities.

5. To promote a closer school and community relationship through the development of a better understanding of educational problems among teachers and lay citizens.
